District - Baby records are tumbling at the Landsberg Clinic: While there were 1,258 births in 2020 (and a record to date, the KREISBOTE reported), the 1,300 mark was broken last year.

A total of 1,319 babies were born in the hospital in 2021.

And there is also a New Years baby: Leo.

Leo was born as a New Year's baby 2022 on January 1st at exactly 11:22 a.m., weighed 3,950 grams when he was born and was 53 centimeters tall. Actually, Leo's expected delivery date was December 22nd. "But the young man took his time," reports Alexa Dorow, deputy hospital press spokeswoman and specializes in obstetrics and pediatric medicine. So much time that the birth began on December 30th. But Leo was probably not impressed by that either. Finally, the parents and the hospital team decided to bring him by caesarean section.

In addition to midwife Valery Buscema, the gynecologists Dr. med. Sabine Stieger and Senior Physician Dr. med. Franziska Volkamer-Bühler from the Department of Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine, doctor Jacqueline Ginter and health and pediatric nurse Martina Krieger were with Mama Chiara and Papa Markus in the operating room. In the future Leo will live in Hofstetten. The clinic gave the New Year's baby a diaper cake with useful utensils for babies and parents.

But that's not all: On December 31, the clinic with Dominik had the 1,306th birth and thus a new annual record: A total of 1,319 babies saw the light of day in Landsberg in 2021. Because it sounds a little complicated, here's the explanation: You differentiate between the number of babies and the number of births, explains Dorow. The 1,306th birth is also the record baby 'number' 1,319. Dominik was born at 9 o'clock sharp with 2,930 grams and 49 centimeters. The date of birth was actually calculated to be January 24th. But Mama Violetta's water had burst and Papa Markus was called home from the night shift. By the way, Dominik's middle name is Maximilian - after his great-grandfather.And he already worked as a porter in the old hospital in Lechstrasse and, after the move, in the current hospital building. Dominik will live in Untermeitingen in the future.

Before that, the clinic had reason to celebrate on December 29th: the 1,300th birth - a new record and “a milestone for us,” says Dorow - and then twins as well: Milan Peter and Jan Maximilian were born by caesarean section.

Midwife Vesna Pazin and gynecologist Dr.

med.

Hilde Wolf gave birth to little Milan.

Midwife Ewa Biega and gynecologist Lucia Krannich took care of Jan. Papa Martin was able to 'bond' with both boys in the delivery room until Mama Vanessa was finished in the operating room.

The twins will also live in Untermeitingen in the future.

Also a record because the birth of twins Jan and Milan in the Landsberg Clinic broke the 1,300 mark for the first time.

The hospital provided a backpack filled with diapers or a frog bath thermometer for the 1,300th birth as well as for the record baby number 1,319 - and of course with the hospital mascot Ludwig Lustig.

Dorow sends a "big thank you" to the midwives at the clinic who made such records possible in the first place.
