Because of corona vaccinations: Bavarian doctor is under massive threat - especially since he vaccinated children

Christian Lübbers is active as a doctor in social networks and is used to some criticism.

The hatred and threats that have been pouring down on him since this winter have a new quality.

Christian Lübbers runs an ear, nose and throat specialist practice in Weilheim in Upper Bavaria and has been active in various social networks such as Twitter for years - 67,670 people follow him here.

For example, he explains the topic of homeopathy under the hashtag #Globukalypse and thus started a sharp discussion about alternative medicine in 2017.

So Lübbers is no stranger.

And used to a lot.

But what has happened since the corona pandemic, and especially since he was vaccinated against Covid-19, is new even for Lübbers: Shortly after a tweet on his part - for example about child vaccinations - his e-mail inbox is full of hate messages.

It was especially bad around Christmas and after New Year's Eve.

We spoke to the ENT doctor.

Lübbers, most recently you had over 40 hate mail in one day in your mailbox.

When did this escalation start?

That was several waves.

Since the pandemic, I've been raising awareness about Covid and vaccination against it on social media.

But it has been the worst since I vaccinated children - as recommended by STIKO - and reported about them on Twitter.

Then a tweet of mine is shared in Telegram groups and called for hatred.

And that will reach you more or less overnight.

Yes.

Some of these groups have 50,000 subscribers, which means that they are very widespread.

Suddenly I get a lot of emails and negative reviews of my practice on Google.

What does this hostility look like in concrete terms?

These are usually insults.

Most recently I was referred to as a “child murderer”.

Then there are coercions and threats.

Sometimes these people call the practice anonymously and verbally abuse my staff.

How do you deal with that?

It is important to me to deal with this hatred professionally.

I have the criminal police make a risk assessment and want to know: Is there a specific risk to life and limb?

This is followed by a complaint with a criminal complaint.

These people have to see that they are not anonymous even on the Internet and that they are crossing a threshold that cannot be tolerated.

Have you been successful with emails and calls?

Yes, insofar as the mail sender or caller has been identified and action is taken against them.

But there have not yet been any judgments.

Unfortunately.

These proceedings are extremely lengthy and would require rapid criminal proceedings.

It must not be the case that vaccination doctors are at the mercy of this hatred any longer.

Politicians must do something about it quickly and, above all, consistently!

And how are you doing with this hatred?

Well, of course I do think about restricting my activity from time to time.

But that is exactly what these people want: to prevent my educational work and also the vaccination by spreading fear and hatred.
