Yuzhou in Henan Province.

In addition to Xi'an and Anyang, it is now the third city in China to have gone into lockdown.

The state provides supplies of food - apparently a lesson from past lockdowns, for example when residents of Wuhan reported problems with getting food.

The government in Beijing is sticking to its zero-covid strategy.

Every new infection should be prevented - that is why the authorities restrict people's freedom of movement to a minimum, many are not even allowed to leave the house.

Yan Fuying, government spokesman

“We checked the vegetable stocks overnight: potatoes, cabbage, carrots and onions.

We have checked whether the quality is okay.

Then we sorted them into individual bags. "

With a view to the upcoming Olympic Games, there is growing nervousness in the country.

In the city of Tianjin with a population of 15 million, just 130 kilometers from Beijing, the first Omicron cases have apparently been recorded.

Omikron is likely to put China's strict zero-Covid strategy to the test with mass testing, quarantine and foreclosure.

Around 20 million people in China are already subject to curfews.
