The president of Colombia, Iván Duque, announced this Tuesday that new measures will be adopted to face the impact of the omicron variant of the new coronavirus in the country.
The new guidelines focus on the fact that people who had COVID-19 can be vaccinated 30 days after isolation and not six months later as previously established.

The isolation of people who test positive for COVID-19 will be maintained for 7 days for those who present symptoms and have the full or partial vaccination scheme, as well as those who are not vaccinated.
Asymptomatic people who have had close contact with a person with symptoms who has an incomplete vaccination schedule or has not been vaccinated, should also be isolated.
With regard to the booster dose, for those over 18 years of age, its application goes from six months to four months after receiving the full or single-dose scheme, as the case may be.

The government also called on parents to speed up the vaccination of children under 12 years of age given the imminent return to face-to-face classes across the country.
