Update from January 11, 2.10 p.m.:

The cabinet around Markus Söder met on Tuesday.

The resolutions were presented at a press conference.

The 15th Infection Protection Ordinance will be extended until February 9th.

It originally expired on January 12, but has to be extended beforehand.

The new resolutions will therefore come into force tomorrow, as State Chancellor Florian Herrmann said.

2G instead of 2G Plus: Bavaria takes a different approach to gastronomy rule

Unlike almost all other federal states, Bavaria does not have stricter corona rules for restaurants.

There will be no 2G plus there, in the Free State it will remain "as of today" with 2G.

For people with a booster vaccination, the 2G-Plus scheme will no longer need to test immediately - not after 14 days.

The cabinet decided that too.

There is also a corresponding relief for people with complete basic immunization who have subsequently survived a corona infection, i.e. for people with a so-called breakthrough vaccination.

For these, too, there is no obligation to submit an additional test in 2G-Plus areas (e.g. theaters, cinemas).

Corona rules in Bavaria - 2G-Plus exemption for schoolchildren is extended

Schoolchildren over 14 years of age who are regularly tested for Corona in school also continue to be exempt from the obligation to provide evidence for 2G regulations.

The exception applies in hotels and restaurants, but also for sporting, musical or acting activities.

Corona in Bavaria: The Söder government decided on these quarantine rules

Bavaria is also implementing the shortening of corona quarantine and isolation agreed by the federal and state governments: In future, the duration of isolation for infected people and quarantine for close contact persons will generally be ten days.

Self-testing using a negative PCR or rapid antigen test is possible after just seven days - although you have to be symptom-free for at least 48 hours after an infection.

For employees in clinics and retirement homes, for example, a PCR test is mandatory to end quarantine and isolation, or negative rapid tests must be submitted daily for five days.

Schoolchildren as well as daycare and kindergarten children who have to be in quarantine as contact persons will in future be able to test themselves free after five days using a PCR or antigen rapid test.

The rules for contact persons who have a booster vaccination, have recently been vaccinated twice, have been vaccinated and have recovered or have recently recovered will be changed as soon as the federal government has implemented the necessary legal changes.

Herrmann probably called it Friday or Saturday.

These then no longer have to be quarantined.

So far, contact persons of a person infected with the Omikron variant have been quarantined for 14 days, without the chance to test themselves.

Corona variant Omikron: "Trend reversal not for the better"

The Omikron variant could have an impact on future decisions.

“Omikron is growing.

We are currently not experiencing a trend reversal for the better, ”said Herrmann.

The Free State wants to adapt its protective measures more to the needs of the highly contagious Corona variant in the near future.

For example, it should be considered whether a regional full lockdown with a seven-day incidence of more than 1000 is still appropriate for the new variant.

“Does the delta logic also fit on Omikron?

That is the key question that arises, ”said Herrmann.

The state government around Markus Söder has already made considerations, which are now to be scientifically underpinned and could be decided at the next meeting of the Council of Ministers next week.

With the Omikron variant, there are indications of a very high infectiousness, but on the other hand also of low symptoms in fully vaccinated people and a lower level of hospitalization.

“You have to superimpose these two things in order to decide: What is the correct answer at Omikron?

It cannot be the same as with Delta. "

Because of Omikron: Soon 2G Plus instead of 2G in Bavaria's gastronomy?

It is possible in gastronomy to switch from the previous 2-G rule to 2-G plus - i.e. only admitting boosted or equals if the seven-day incidence exceeds 1000.

An increased threshold value for a complete district lockdown is also conceivable - so far this threshold value has been 1000. One must continue to think about how to deal with youth work and art and culture.

There will be talks with the responsible ministers here in the next few days.

For example, the capacity limit of 25 percent in cinemas and other cultural events should be discussed.

Press conference after the Söder cabinet meeting

Söder-Kabinett met: The press conference to read

1:37 p.m.:

Why are there stricter rules in culture than in gastronomy?

After all, there are studies that there is no particular danger from culture if certain rules are followed, so a journalist asked.

Hubert Aiwanger makes it clear: 25 percent seating in the culture is currently permitted, but Omikron is more dangerous than Delta.

In the gastro there is curfew, you don't sit there for so long.

If you are not sitting at the table, you have to put on a mask there too.

Aiwanger admits, however, that a “certain discrepancy” cannot be denied.

Live press conference: Holetschek is not ruling out 2G-Plus in gastronomy in the future

1:29 p.m

.: Klaus Holetschek has the floor.

“It is clear that Omikron will be omnipresent” in the next few weeks.

“We have to weigh things up now.” There is still too little data and experience as to how Omikron actually works.

But you also have to look: What comes after Corona?

As an example, he lists Long Covid or the PIMS syndrome in children.

One has to rely on the fact that the data situation improves.

Nothing can be ruled out now, so 2G-Plus could become an issue for the catering industry in the future.

No 2G-Plus rule in Bavaria's gastronomy - Aiwanger hopes for relief for the cultural industry

1:21 p.m.:

Hubert Aiwanger speaks next.

Nobody knows exactly how Omicron works.

Bavaria's Minister of Economic Affairs speaks of “driving on sight.” He is pleased that Bavaria does not implement the 2G-Plus rule in gastronomy.

He hoped that this would not be necessary in the future either.

He also commented on the criticism of why stricter rules apply in the cultural sector than in the catering trade.

When it comes to culture, “the last word has not yet been spoken if it turns out to be responsible.” Now scientific knowledge is needed.

Söder-Kabinett met - press conference: new quarantine and gastro rule fixed

1:07 p.m.:

The following resolutions were made today: The 15th Infection Protection Ordinance will be extended until February 9, according to Herrmann.

It will be extended almost 1: 1.

There are only adjustments based on the decisions of the MPK.

The exception for underage schoolchildren in the 2G rules (for example in catering) remains in place.

If the 2G rule is extended, there will continue to be the exception for the students, he clarifies.

Corona in Bavaria: This will apply to quarantine in the future

The following applies to the 2G-Plus scheme: Previously, no more tests were necessary from the 14th day after the boost.

Due to the MPK, this now applies immediately: Those who have been boosted can do without the test at 2G Plus.

Anyone who has been vaccinated twice and then becomes infected before the booster appointment will in future be treated like “boosted” at 2G Plus; in this case, too, no further test is necessary.

Regarding the quarantine, it says: This is where the federal decisions are implemented.

Contact persons and infected people have to remain in isolation for ten days and then do not need a PCR test to be released.

There is, however, the option of using a test to test yourself free after seven days.

From Friday or Saturday, the following also applies (still depends on the Federal Council): those who have been boosted as contact persons no longer have to be in quarantine.

Corona in Bavaria: No 2G plus rule in gastronomy

2G Plus is not implemented in gastronomy, says Herrmann.

The catering industry has been restricted in many ways, bars and discos are closed, and there is a curfew in the catering trade.

They have "strict regulations", which is why - as of today - the rule will not be implemented.

Nevertheless, perspective considerations have been made.

From an incidence of 1000, a 2G-Plus regulation in the catering industry might be conceivable.

But for this you have to clarify questions beforehand in order to make decisions on a scientific basis.

Corona rules in Bavaria: Söder-Kabinett has met - press conference now live

1 p.m

.: The press conference begins.

Florian Herrmann has the floor.

"Omikron is currently growing", one is experiencing a trend reversal "not for the better", said the head of the state chancellery.

You have significantly more new infections.

Up until the end of last year the incidence was falling, now it is rising sharply.

Omikron prevailed in the cases.

Regarding hospital development, the CSU politician says: The tendency is "fortunately falling or 'still' falling", said Herrmann.

That brings relief, but is not the all-clear.

About vaccination: The number of booster vaccinations is 41.6 percent.

First and second vaccinations are slow and unfortunately too slow.

"Vaccination helps," assures Herrmann.

Bavaria wants to continue the "course of prudence and caution with a sense of proportion."

Corona rules in Bavaria: press conference live

Update from January 11th, 12.30 p.m

.: The cabinet around Markus Söder is meeting today on the corona situation in the Free State.

Bavaria is probably going a different way again (see previous update).

There will be a press conference at 1 p.m.

Then State Chancellor Florian Hermann, Health Minister Klaus Holetschek and Economics Minister Hubert Aiwanger explain the resolutions.

You can follow the press conference here in the live stream and ticker.

Corona in Bavaria: Söder takes a special route!

Decision made at cabinet meeting

Update from January 11, 11:27 a.m

.: In Bavaria, the previous 2G regulation remains in the catering trade.

The Free State is not implementing the federal-state resolution to introduce 2G plus.

This is reported by the

Bavarian Broadcasting Corporation

, citing cabinet circles.

Accordingly, the cabinet agreed to extend the previous 2G rule for restaurants.

Corona course in Bavaria: Harsh criticism of CSU boss Söder

Update from January 11th, 9 a.m.:

The Greens in the Bavarian state parliament asked CSU boss Markus Söder before the cabinet meeting on Tuesday to tighten the corona protection in the catering trade. The 2G plus concept recommended by the Prime Minister's Conference last week - i.e. access only for people with a booster * or a negative test - must also apply in Bavaria. That said the Greens parliamentary group leader Katharina Schulze in the broadcast "radioWelt" of the

Bavarian broadcasting company (Bayern 2).

The cabinet wants to make a decision on the matter on Tuesday.

In addition to Prime Minister Söder, the Free Voters around their party leader and Economics Minister Hubert Aiwanger are skeptical about the implementation of the Prime Minister's decision.

Like Saxony-Anhalt, Bavaria had submitted a note to the minutes of the decision and stated that it largely lagged behind the legal situation that was already in force in Bavaria.

Söder “Team carelessness” instead of “Team caution”?

Harsh criticism of the CSU boss

Söder himself had stated that he was considering whether the decision of the Prime Minister's Conference should be implemented in Bavaria, since Bavaria already has very strict requirements, some of which go beyond those in other federal states - for example, the closure of clubs and discos "With this consideration, the Markus Söder is currently hiring, he is from the caution team to the reckless team, ”said Schulze on the radio show.

Schulze further criticized Söder had become inconsistent with his pandemic management.

In culture, people have to wear masks, be boosted or tested and capacity is limited to 25 percent.

In terms of pub culture, 2G is rich and the restaurants are likely to be full.

"There you can see that he no longer argues stringently in pandemic management and also no longer scientifically," she explained.

The population is unsettled by different rules in the federal states.

“After almost two years, we need uniformity, clear rules and, above all, transparency.

That is what the Söder cabinet has to deliver now, ”demanded the Green politician.

The vaccination campaign must now be ramped up.

“Vaccinate, vaccinate, vaccinate” is the order of the day.

Schulze calls for nationwide compulsory vaccination from the age of 18.

"This is our only ticket out of this pandemic."

Incidence in Bavaria is increasing rapidly

Update from January 11, 6.45 a.m.:

The incidence numbers in Bavaria continue to rise rapidly.

According to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), it was 329.5 on Tuesday.

On Monday it was 321.8.

The hotspot development is particularly dangerous in some areas.

The state capital Munich had an incidence of 532.5 on Tuesday and was therefore in the “pink area”.

Likewise, the district of Starnberg (540.2) bordering Munich and the Franconian district town of Würzburg.

With an incidence of almost 600 (591.6), this is currently the absolute leader in the Free State.

Corona in Bavaria: Incidence continues to rise - disagreement before cabinet meeting

The Bavarian cabinet wants to decide today on the implementation of "2G-Plus" in the catering trade and the shortening of the quarantine.

Both regulations emerged from the last federal-state summit.

Söder announced that he would not necessarily want to adopt the 2G-Plus rule for the catering industry.

Representatives of the cultural sector insisted on equal treatment and therefore also called for the stricter rules for cultural establishments to be abolished in advance.

The Greens and the SPD, on the other hand, are calling for the opposite - namely the implementation of the stricter measures in the catering sector.

Green parliamentary group leader Katharina Schulze said in this regard that it was incomprehensible why in an inn without a mask and with a full occupation different rules should apply than in theaters, for example.

First report from January 10th at 7.30 p.m.

Munich - The Omikron variant is still on the advance.

In many countries such as Spain, Great Britain or Italy, the number of infections is racing upwards, and a similar situation is looming in Germany.

At the beginning of the new year, the federal and state governments met to determine stricter regulations in the fight against the virus *.

Prime Minister Söder (CSU) surprised many observers when he announced a Bavarian special route - in the milder sense - in the past few days.

Corona in Bavaria: is Söder taking a special route?

The gastro decision is imminent

The nationwide 2G-Plus regulation for gastronomy resulted from the most recent Corona * summit, which allows access to restaurants only for vaccinated and convalescent people including test evidence.

CSU boss Söder announced shortly afterwards that he wanted to adhere to the already existing 2G regulation for gastronomy in Bavaria *.

This would mean that the Free State would take the milder path, which would almost mean a change of course for the "caution team".

The Bavarian cabinet announced a press conference for Tuesday, January 11th to explain Bavaria's further corona strategy.

Among other things, the topic of gastronomy should then be in focus.

Corona in Bavaria: Before PK - Violent criticism from the culture scene

Before the meeting of the Bavarian cabinet on how to deal with the pandemic, the Bavarian Music Council (BMR) for music and art demanded corona rules comparable to those in gastronomy. The current provisions for cultural institutions in Bavaria are incomprehensible, incomprehensible and disproportionate compared to the regulations in the catering trade, criticized the acting BMR President Helmut Kaltenhauser.

Currently, 2G-Plus, wearing a mask and a maximum occupancy rate of 25 percent apply in theaters, operas and concert halls, said Kaltenhauser.

On the other hand, Bavaria might want to stick to 2G in the area of gastronomy.

“If gastronomy stays with 2G, this must also apply to culture in the future for the reasons mentioned above.

Numerous scientific studies show that the risk of infection in operas and concert halls is almost zero, ”said Kaltenhauser.
