In light of the frequent power cuts outside the scope of rationing and the multiplicity of their causes, the issue of disconnecting and burning circuit breakers is the most prominent reason for these outages, especially during the winter season as a result of excessive loads, according to the head of the maintenance department at the Damascus Electricity Company, Engineer Awad Al-Awad.

Many calls are received to the electricity exchanges to file a complaint about a long power outage in different areas and neighborhoods, especially in slums. When maintenance cadres go to address the malfunction, the most prominent reason is the disconnection of the circuit breaker feeding the electrical box in the neighborhood or its burning, so the emphasis remains on not operating all household electrical equipment at the same time It is what the authorities working in the electricity strive to raise awareness about, as this reduces interruptions of this type on the one hand and protects household equipment on the other.

SANA escorted one of the maintenance and repair workshops that headed to the Daf al-Shouk area in Damascus based on a complaint received to the Al-Zahira Emergency Office stating that the electricity was cut off for a whole day in the area. Its capacity is 630 kilovolt-amperes, which feeds about 200 homes in the area, where the repair and replacement of the circuit breaker and the restoration of electricity to the citizens were started.

The head of the Awad Maintenance Department, during his statement to SANA, clarified that the time of the repair process varies according to the holidays, and that the workshop workers do not leave the place until after making sure that the fault has been fixed and testing the return of the electric current, stressing that all the workshops of maintenance, emergency offices and transformer laboratories of the General Electricity Company work around the clock. To repair faults in the shortest possible time and immediately, and that the company provides all the necessary supplies to work, including transformers and cables.

The head of the Transformation Centers Maintenance Division, Muhannad Sharaf, indicated that their work is focused on maintaining electricity tanks in the city of Damascus, while the head of the Al-Zahra Emergency Office Raqi Tarraf pointed to the problem of the lack of technical staff specialized in maintenance, which leads to pressure at work, especially in the winter season, where faults abound as a result of the need for heating. on the one hand, and the repercussions of the prevailing weather conditions on the other.

Tarraf pointed out that there are more than 50 centers feeding the Al-Zahira area in Damascus, and work is being done to treat any malfunction according to the complaints received, especially in the random housing areas because the loading rate is always high and the rationing hours are long, which leads to the burning of transformers and cables when operating household electrical appliances simultaneously during electrical feeding Here, the citizen cannot be blamed for that because he needs to operate his requirements while connecting the electricity, but it is possible to cooperate to reduce the percentage of these malfunctions by not operating all the high-capacity tools at the same time.
