Homs- Sana
Homs firefighters put out this evening a fire that erupted in large areas of dry weeds, thorns, vines and olive trees in agricultural lands between the villages of Jabalaya and Al-Marana in the western countryside of Homs.
Brigadier General Ghiath Aqel, director of the Civil Defense branch in Homs, told SANA reporter that after a great effort from the branch’s members, the Homs Fire Brigade and the extinguishing of the Agriculture Directorate and the people, the fire was brought under control and extinguished despite the nature of the terrain and the absence of roads leading to the place.
Aqel added that the cooling and monitoring process is currently underway to prevent the fire from recurring, noting that the area of the fire has reached about 80 dunums.
