The opposition FDP has criticized the new consultancy work of ex-Environment Minister Franz Untersteller at the Mannheim energy supplier MVV.
"Mr. Untersteller would have done better to keep a little more time gap.
But like on the autobahn, Franz Untersteller is always a little faster than good, ”said FDP parliamentary group leader Hans-Ulrich Rülke on Wednesday in Stuttgart.
Stuttgart - On Tuesday, MVV announced that the 64-year-old Green politician will in future be a consultant for the fifth largest supplier in Germany.
However, there is only an expense allowance and no employment.
Untersteller left office about nine months ago.
In the south-west, unlike in the federal government, there are no rules for a waiting period for former members of the government.
However, the green-black coalition has decided to forbid former members of the government to work for a period of 18 months after leaving office in certain cases.
As Minister, Untersteller was responsible for the energy industry in the southwest from 2011 to 2021 and is considered a confidante of Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann (Greens).

Rülke's allusion to the Autobahn refers to an incident in November 2020. Untersteller, who always advocates a speed limit, was caught by the police on the A8 while racing.
Instead of the permitted 120 kilometers per hour, the minister was traveling with 177 items.
