At the end of four weeks of conflict and while the trash cans are piling up in Toulouse, the Force Ouvrière union, the majority among garbage collectors, reported on Wednesday January 12 an "
advance
" in discussions with the Metropolis, which could end to strike. "
The community has agreed to grant us 11 additional days of leave for the arduousness of our work
," Nicolas Refutin, secretary general of FO of the Metropolis, told AFP. "
It would also accept the establishment of periods of" low activity ", as in summer, with reduced working time, as well as compensation for Saturdays or public holidays worked
," said the trade unionist.

The garbage collectors, on strike since December 16, demanded 34 days of rest, in compensation for the 35 hours per week which are now imposed on them, against 25 hours on average until then.
The Metropolis had conceded nine at the last negotiation meeting on January 6.
This change in schedule implies for the garbage collectors the end of the "
finished party
" system, which allowed them to return home at the end of their round, that is to say between 10:15 am and 10:30 am, having started at 5:00 am.
"
The community also guaranteed us that there would be no cuts in remuneration as we feared, and that there would even be some increases
", according to Nicolas Refutin.
“
If we put all these proposals end to end, we arrive at an 11% reduction in working time.
We demanded 15% and the community, it proposed 3% at the beginning
, "said the trade unionist who welcomes this"
progress
", but waits"
to see the proposals in writing
".
They will be presented to the garbage collectors on Thursday, who will vote to stop or continue the strike.
