Geretsried: Cyclist (82) is run over and seriously injured

Geretsried - A serious traffic accident occurred in the center of Geretsried.
An 82-year-old cyclist had to be transported away by rescue helicopter.
A serious traffic accident was reported to the Geretsried police station on Tuesday (January 11th) around 11:10 a.m.
According to the current state of knowledge of the police, an 87-year-old car driver from Geretsried wanted to turn left in her VW from Böhmerwaldstraße onto Egerlandstraße.
In doing so, she overlooked an 82-year-old cyclist who was crossing the pedestrian crossing there.
The car hit the cyclist and then, while trying to avoid a collision, another car from a driver from Wolfratshausen.
"As a result of the collision, the cyclist fell so badly that he sustained serious head injuries," reports Chief Police Officer Christopher Seebauer.
He then had to be taken to the Rechts der Isar hospital by rescue helicopter for further medical treatment.
According to the police, the injured cyclist did not wear a bicycle helmet.
The person who caused the accident goes into shock and comes to the Wolfratshausen hospital
The driver responsible for the vehicle suffered a shock and also had to be treated medically at the Wolfratshausen hospital.
The vehicles involved resulted in total damage of 11,000 euros.
The road was closed to public traffic while the accident was recorded and the ambulance was being transported.
According to the police, this resulted in significant traffic delays.
The two vehicles involved in the accident had to be recovered and removed by the towing service.
The investigations into the exact course of the accident are still ongoing.
A charge of negligent bodily harm was recorded.
