Geretsried: Kolping is collecting shoes again

The Geretsried Kolping family collects used and well-preserved shoes.
They can be submitted until January 31st.
Geretsried - The Kolping Geretsried family is also participating in the nationwide campaign "My shoe is good" this year.
The collection containers will be in the Maria Hilf church and in the Holy Family parish center until Monday, January 31st.
The sorting room is located at the Lorz family at St.-Hubertus Straße 36.
The idea behind the campaign is that almost everyone has shoes at home that are no longer worn. If you sort out the used, but well-preserved copies and donate them, you can do something good with them. The shoes should still be worn, so it is important that they end up in the containers connected in pairs and not damaged or heavily soiled. "Since Kolping Geretsried had to dispose of around 30 percent in the past year, some of which were subject to a charge, we are once again asked to urgently take this into account," says a press release.
After the end of the campaign, the collected shoes will be sorted and sold in the Kolping Recycling GmbH sorting plants.
"The shoes are offered for little money on markets in Eastern Bloc countries and in Africa," said Kolping.
The entire proceeds of the nationwide campaign will benefit the international Adolph Kolping Foundation and social causes in Geretsried.
The aim of the foundation is to promote vocational training centers, youth exchanges and international encounters, social projects and religious education.
Last year the collection campaign was a complete success.
189 502 pairs of shoes came together nationwide.
The proceeds amounted to 24,559.39 euros.
