Green Minister Robert Habeck has presented his plans for climate protection.
Not enough, says Fridays For Future.
Berlin - The plans of the new climate protection minister Robert Habeck (Greens) met with a predominantly positive response - but not all are enthusiastic.
Criticism comes from the environmental movement Fridays For Future.
Activist Carla Reemtsma does not think the climate plans are sufficient.
"The gap between the promises in climate protection and the actual emissions has never been larger than it is today," said Reemtsma to the
editorial network in Germany
on Tuesday.
Habeck had previously stated that he wanted to massively accelerate the expansion of renewable energies from wind and sun - otherwise Germany could fail to meet its climate targets.
The Green politician took stock of the current state of climate protection on Tuesday and announced additional immediate programs for spring and summer.
The aim is to triple the efforts made so far.
Habeck presents his climate plans - but Fridays For Future is flabbergasted
Habeck * made it clear on Tuesday that there is a "considerable backlog" when it comes to the goals of CO2 reduction and the expansion of renewable energies.
It is all the more important to become “more efficient and faster” from now on.
He referred to forecasts that anticipate “an increase in emissions of four percent” for 2021.
The trend is going "in the wrong direction," said the minister.
Habeck wants to set the pace in the fight against climate change, especially with the expansion of wind and solar energy, but also with buildings and industry.
"We have to be three times better in all areas," said the minister.
As a reaction to the failure of the grand coalition to implement measures to meet its own inadequate climate targets in only one sector, a breach of the promise is announced.

Not enough of the effort, according to the Fridays For Future activist.
Effective measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions were immediately missing from government plans.
"Instead of consistently changing course, the traffic light continues to decide against every single measure that would quickly reduce emissions," criticized Reemtsma.
However, "in view of the years of misconduct", "an immediate U-turn" is now necessary.

In fact, however, the government is ignoring the transport sector, "is sticking to fossil gas and leaving the CO2 price, which is far too low, untouched," criticized the FFF activist.
"As a reaction to the failure of the grand coalition to implement measures to meet its own inadequate climate targets in only one sector, a breach of the promise is announced," she said.
