The rapid increase in the seven-day incidence of new corona infections in Hamburg continues unabated.

The health authority gave the number of newly reported infections per 100,000 inhabitants within a week on Wednesday as 723.0 (as of 12 noon).

On Tuesday the value was 690.2, a week ago it was 499.4.

At the same time, the number of people who have died of or in connection with the coronavirus since the beginning of the pandemic increased by 2 to 2034.

Hamburg - With the seven-day incidence, Hamburg is still well above the national average.

On the basis of a different calculation method, the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) gave a seven-day incidence of 568.9 for Hamburg on Wednesday, and a value of 407.5 for all of Germany.

According to the health authority, 2590 confirmed new infections were added in Hamburg on Wednesday.

That is more than ever and 542 more than the day before and 625 more than the Wednesday a week ago.

The health authority reported the highest number of cases to date with 2264 last Thursday.

Nationwide, too, the number of corona cases shot to a record high and exceeded the 80,000 threshold for the first time on Wednesday.

The health authorities reported 80,430 cases to the RKI in 24 hours.

The authorities in Hamburg continued to provide their figures with the note that a higher number of cases and thus a higher incidence must be assumed. The reason is the rapid increase and the high number of cases, which led to a later report by the laboratories as well as to a delay in processing at the submitting offices. According to the available data, a total of at least 161 544 people have been infected in the Hanseatic city since February 2020. Of these, 128,700 are considered recovered according to RKI estimates.

In the intensive care units of Hamburg's hospitals, 81 Covid 19 patients were treated on Wednesday afternoon (as of 11.15 a.m.), five fewer more than the day before.

This comes from the register of the German Interdisciplinary Association for Intensive Care and Emergency Medicine (Divi).

46 of them had to be invasively ventilated, two less than on Tuesday.

The health authority stated the total number of Covid-19 cases in the clinics with 397 (as of Tuesday) - 31 more than the previous day.

Nationwide, the value fell from 3.34 to 3.13.

If the limit values 3, 6 and 9 are exceeded, the federal states can impose stricter measures to combat the pandemic.

According to the RKI, 80.0 percent of Hamburgers have now been vaccinated at least once.

According to this, 77.7 percent of Hanseatic city residents have full basic protection with the second injection, which is usually necessary.
