A young man, aged 17 at the time of the facts, was sentenced on Friday January 7 to ten years in prison for the rape of a woman in the middle of the street in Lille in 2019, report

The facts date back to January 7, 2019 at around 9:30 p.m. That evening, a woman in her forties leaves her plastic arts course and returns home to Lambersart, a town bordering Lille. The bus being delayed, she decides to make the journey on foot from Lille through the facade of the Esplanade.
It is there, in a dark path, that she is attacked by two people.
Placed on the ground, she is raped by the 17-year-old individual while her accomplice, only 11 years old, steals personal effects from her bag.
The two attackers even went so far as to steal all of her jewelry after the rape.
Six months after the attack, the police had managed to identify the suspect thanks to samples taken from the men of a Roma camp, located not far from the place of the facts, specifies
