Notre-Dame de Paris can be visited in virtual reality

2022-01-12T18:40:08.723Z

An animation visible at the defense allows you to walk under the rose window of the cathedral. It integrates all eras and all points of view.

Virtual reality, with its parallel world, sometimes has a bit of a confusing side.

But it can hold good surprises, like the new immersive tour of Notre-Dame de Paris,

Eternal Notre-Dame

.

Offered at the Grande Arche de la Défense space (located just outside the RER A), from January 15, it allows you to dive into the long history of the cathedral.

Better still: it leads visitors face to face with the large rose, above the roof blackened by the fire, below the bells, in the passageways or in the heart of the mythical frame that disappeared on April 15, 2019. A historical spectacle that starts at the construction and ends when the cathedral will reopen its doors, the visit is quite successful, even in its esthetics.

It includes the fire and restoration work.

For the benefit of restoration

It takes place with a helmet on the nose and a sort of backpack, following the instructions of an avatar. The latter, supposed to embody a companion craftsman, guides the steps, at the beginning uncertain, of the visitors and ensures the rhythm of the three quarters of an hour that the visit lasts. It is he who recounts the main stages of construction, he who "leads" the visitor to the feet of the spire or the great organ.

"I even experienced a little dizziness",

admitted, yesterday, during a presentation made to the press, Mgr Aumonier, representative of the diocese of Paris for the site.

We owe “

Éternelle Notre-Dame”

to Orange, Amaclio productions (which produced, for example ,

La Nuit aux Invalides

, in the courtyard of the Invalides) and Emissive for the technical part.

Bruno Seillier provided artistic direction, in conjunction with the diocese and the public establishment for the reconstruction of Notre-Dame.

The entrance fee is relatively high, since it is thirty euros at the full price.

But 30% of the ticket price will be donated to the public establishment and the Notre-Dame Foundation, in order to participate in the financing of the interior fittings of the cathedral (the work itself being covered by donations).

After the Espace de la Défense, the virtual visit will go under the cathedral square in the fall of 2022 for at least two years.

Ultimately,

“Éternelle Notre-Dame”

will tour in France and abroad.
