The case of the pedophile pastor H., which is currently being discussed again, moves many people.

The public prosecutor's office put his two years in Bad Tölz on file.

Bad Tölz

- The reactions to the latest reports in Tölzer Kurier show it: The case of Pastor H., who was previously convicted of sexual abuse and who was last posted in Bad Tölz from 2008 to 2010, moves many people.

Before the report of a law firm in the coming week should bring more clarity into the question of what the former Archbishop of Munich Joseph Ratzinger, the current Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI., Knew about H., the BR political magazine "Controvers" reported on this Wednesday. on the topic and also shot for it in Tölz.

When Pastor H. preached in Bad Tölz, it was "full hut"

Pastoral advisor Herbert Konrad, responsible for tourism chaplaincy in Bad Tölz, was interviewed. In this function he worked from 2008 to 2010 with Pastor H., who at that time had been transferred from Garching an der Alz to Bad Tölz. “Back then I was wondering why our tourism chaplaincy was so well staffed”, Konrad remembers in an interview with the Tölzer Kurier. However, he did not suspect the background to the transfer - renewed allegations of abuse.

H. introduced its own "tourist fair" in Bad Tölz.

“That was a stage that he needed,” says the pastoral officer.

Word got around quickly that the charismatic H. designed the services “differently and entertainingly”.

On Sundays at 11 a.m. fewer tourists than many locals and believers from the area came to the Franciscan Church.

"There was a full hut."

In the parish of Bad Tölz there is no longer any need for processing

Konrad also remembers exactly the evening on which H. revealed himself to him.

It was clear that an article was about to be published in the Süddeutsche Zeitung that would bring H's past to light.

H. asked Konrad to come to his apartment for a personal interview.

Konrad was speechless about what he was hearing.

Today, eleven years later, Pastor H. is no longer a big issue in the parish, says Pastor Peter Demmelmair.

“I wasn't here then,” he says.

"But in my eight years in Bad Tölz, nobody from the community has spoken to me that the subject Pastor H. still needs to be dealt with." It is clear that the previous history is "bad".

Fortunately, however, no attacks on children and young people are known from Bad Tölz.

The public prosecutor's office is currently refraining from investigative proceedings in Tölz

According to media reports from February 2020, the public prosecutor's office followed up on starting points. Andrea Mayer, spokeswoman for the Munich II Public Prosecutor's Office, informed the Tölzer Kurier: “After pastor Peter H. carried out preliminary investigations into possible sexual assaults in the years 2008 to 2010 as part of his work in Bad Tölz, an order was issued of January 13, 2021 apart from the initiation of investigative proceedings, since the preliminary investigations did not reveal any evidence of sexual assault against young people. "

The prevailing opinion in Bad Tölz 2010 that H's last offense had been 24 years ago, however, turned out to be wrong.

From his time in Garching an der Alz, where H. had previously been pastor for 20 years, it became known that H. had abused three boys, one between 1987 and 1993, and two more between 1994 and 1996. It is believed that the number of unreported cases was higher.

A person affected from Garching also has a say in the "Controversial" article.

In Garching, members of the “Sour Dough Initiative” had requested information from Cardinal Reinhard Marx from 2020.

In July 2021, Marx apologized in Garching for the “failure of the institutions”.
