Rainfall throughout Al-Hasakah Governorate during the past two days has boosted the hopes of livestock breeders for an improvement in the growth of natural pastures in the regions of the southern governorate and the Badia, which constitute the main area for pastures, and livestock breeders depend on them to feed their flocks and livestock.

The head of the Plant Production Department in the Directorate of Agriculture, Eng. Jalal Bilal, stated in a statement to SANA Economic Bulletin that the area planted with pastoral crops by the governorate’s farmers amounted to 1,680 hectares of barley and 500 hectares of grass, distributed in various areas of agricultural stability on which farmers who own animal holdings depend on feeding their flocks, in addition. to dry feed material.

Bilal pointed out that the natural pastures scattered in the Badia region, the southern region, and the countryside of large cities constitute the main source of animal nutrition for large holdings of sheep, goats and camels, indicating that the rains that pervaded the governorate during the previous two days will enhance the growth of the cultivated pastoral areas and will contribute to the growth and improvement of natural pastures during the coming period.

Livestock breeders are looking forward to improving the reality of natural pastures and grazing areas in the near future and the start of green plants and weeds to grow after severe suffering and losses as a result of the last dry season and their having to buy feed materials from local markets at high prices.

A number of sheep breeders, including Saadoun Al-Makhlif and Ali Al-Hayyan from the countryside of Hasakah and Qamishli, pointed out that the rains that fell has revived hope in the hearts of the breeders after the delay in the rains and the inability of the breeders to purchase all their needs of fodder materials from the markets, and they were forced to sell part of the animal possession to buy these materials And feed the rest of the flocks.
