After Schlehdorf has completely renovated his primary school, the planning for the multi-purpose hall could be tackled this year.

The hall is to be added to the narrow side of the school.

To do this, the temporary outside staircase has to go.

A piece of the adjoining playground will also give way to the extension.

The Schlehdorf community has achieved a lot in the past year.

The small monastery town does not want to make big leaps in 2022 - but a few projects are already on the agenda.

Schlehdorf - The school building was completely refurbished for around 1.9 million euros.

Around 450,000 euros were budgeted for the construction of a new day nursery.

And Schlehdorf has also treated itself to a new heating center: These are the three major projects that shaped the small community on the Kochelsee in 2021 and in some cases as early as 2020.

Funding has been promised: for the day care center, for example, around 294,000 euros and for the school around 1.1 million euros.

Project grants are flowing slowly

But the promised funds are only flowing slowly, as Mayor Stefan Jocher said at the last municipal council meeting in 2021. A total of around 700,000 euros in grants are still outstanding for the three projects: heating center, daycare center and school. Before these funds have reached the municipal account, hardly anything will happen in Schlehdorf, because: "The reserves have been used up," says Jocher. But the financial situation of the community in general is “not that bad”. Among other things, not because the income from the trade tax in 2021 would be relatively good, as the companies in the local industrial park were hardly affected by the Corona crisis. And Jocher also expects a recovery in the future with the income tax that has recently fallen.

Planning for a multi-purpose hall is to be tackled

Schlehdorf is therefore looking into the year 2022 in good spirits. Once the outstanding funding has been paid in, at least the planning for the multi-purpose hall should be tackled, says Jocher, but expressly emphasizes: "Only the planning."

As reported, the hall will be directly connected to the school building and be available for school sports as well as for clubs and various events.

Jocher estimates that the planning costs for this will be around 100,000 euros.

The community is hoping for grants for the hall

A multi-purpose hall has long been on the community's wish list. Because apart from the ballroom in the monastery and the gymnasium of the secondary school, there is no suitably large room for events. There is no catering in the ballroom. And in the secondary school gym, the hall floor is actually only suitable for sporting purposes. “Depending on how things go financially,” says Jocher, the multi-purpose hall could be built in 2023 or 2024. For this project - a hall for school sports - there could also be subsidies from the Free State - which would make the realization easier. A commitment in this regard is not yet available. Basically, Jocher reckons that “the Free State will have to row back” when it comes to future new grants. Not least because of the corona pandemic. This assumption suggested at least signals from members of the state parliament.

Secure building land for locals

The second important project is the “Unterau-Ost” development plan: the municipality wants to complete it in 2022, according to Jocher.

The plan has already passed the first public display.

Negotiations are currently underway with property owners, said Jocher.

On a total of around 7,000 square meters, new building land is to be created on the edge of the Schlehdorf district of Unterau in the direction of Großweil.

The community wants to secure around 2000 square meters of this in order to sell the space to locals.

If everything goes well, the plots should still be developed in 2022.

A cost estimate for this is not yet available.

For the community, however, it will be a "zero-sum game", Jocher estimates.

The nine parcels should then be ready for development by 2023 at the latest.

Trigger flood protection on the Kohllaine

Apart from these two projects, Schlehdorf has nothing in store for 2022.

At most, the flood protection on the Kohllaine could at least be initiated - in the form of initial planning and discussions with the property owners concerned.

As Jocher explains, the Kohllaine is a torrent, but there are residential developments in the vicinity.

It is true that the Free State is responsible for the flood measures on a torrent.

“But the community would have to contribute 30 to 50 percent.” And that with an estimated total cost of currently around three quarters of a million euros.

No further projects are planned in Schlehdorf in 2022.

“We have done a lot in the last few years,” explains Jocher.

Now they want to see first "that the finances can recover."
