NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg announced that the alliance has reached an agreement with Russia to resume the work of their diplomatic missions on both sides.
Russia Today website quoted Stoltenberg as saying after the meeting of the NATO Russia Council today, "The agreement concluded between the two parties provides for the resumption of the work of their diplomatic missions in Moscow and Brussels," explaining that the two parties expressed their "intention to continue dialogue."
Stoltenberg indicated that NATO "is ready to hold new discussions with Russia in order to conduct detailed discussions and put forward constructive proposals for the discussion and achieve constructive results," expressing the alliance's readiness to discuss reciprocal steps with Russia regarding missiles and nuclear policies.
On the 17th of last December, Russia published two draft agreements, one with the United States and the other with NATO, which include clauses on mutual security guarantees in Europe, including the non-deployment of medium and short-range missiles in the areas of access to the opponent’s territory, and the alliance’s abandonment of continuing its eastward expansion.
