A court in the United States today (Wednesday) rejected Prince Andrew's request to dismiss the civil lawsuit against him for sexual assault.

Judge Lewis Kaplan of New York flatly rejected Queen Elizabeth's son's request to drop the complaint filed against him by Virginia Joffer, who claims businessman and sex offender Jeffrey Epstein passed it on to his wealthy and powerful associates, including Andrew, for sex purposes. Andrew vehemently denies this.

Andrew's lawyers called on the judge last week to drop the lawsuit, noting an agreement Joffra signed in 2009 with Epstein, who ended his life in his cell in 2019 while awaiting trial for sexual offenses against minors.

The prince's lawyer, Andrew Bartler, said Joffre had "waived her rights" to sue other defendants for sex crimes that Epstein allegedly committed. However, the judge ruled that the agreement was full of problematic wording and lack of clarity.
