(CNN Spanish) -

If you want to know how many countries in the world you can visit without a visa, it all depends on your passport and nationality.

In Latin America, the citizens of Chile, Argentina and Brazil have the most powerful passports, according to the Passport Index, prepared each year by the firm Henley & Partners, which classifies all passports in the world according to the number of destinations to which they their holders can access without a prior visa.

Although no Latin American country managed to reach the first 10 positions in the 2022 ranking, the previous three did enter the top 20.

The index, which is based on data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), placed Chile in the lead in Latin America: 16th with visa-free access to 174 countries.

They are followed by Argentina in 19th place (access to 170 countries) and Brazil in 20th position (169 countries).

Mexico came in at number 24, as it allows visa-free entry to its citizens in 159 different countries.

The worst place was for Haiti in 95th place, with just 48 countries without a visa requirement.

It was followed by the Dominican Republic in 73rd place (70 countries) and Cuba in 79th place (64 countries).

It is worth mentioning that the index does not take into account temporary restrictions, which change in the world as the coronavirus pandemic progresses.
