The bodybuilder boy is training (GiulianoStroeOfficial)

The Romanian Giuliano Strau who once won the title of "the most powerful boy in the world" and broke four Guinness World Records surprised us all when he shared a picture of him today when he is 17 years old and looks completely different from what we imagined he would see at that age.

So true, he's still muscular and keeps fit - but there's no doubt that from a child who has been lifting weights since the age of 4 we were at least expecting to see some Eli Hannah here.

Giuliano, a resident of Ikuana in southern Romania, became a worldwide sensation when he first entered the Guinness Book of Records when he broke the record for "fastest walking on his hands" when he was only five years old.

He impressed the audience with a live broadcast on Italian television with the stunt, which included wearing a ball of weights on his leg.

The fitness enthusiast continued to break records when a year later, in 2010, he broke the record for the number of push-ups by 90 degrees.

Today, at the age of 17, he shared an up-to-date photo of himself holding a photo of himself from the glory days.

  • Looking for a new sport to fall in love with?

    That's the answer

And this is what he looks like today:

The photo garnered nearly 7,000 likes from fans who have followed his impressive sporting achievements since childhood.

One wrote: "I have been following you since you were a child" and another added: "You were amazing then and you are amazing even today, Giuliano".

Giuliano also broke a number of unofficial records up to age 9, including 20 push-ups on 4 glass bottles and standing on one hand for more than 20 seconds.

He was inspired to develop a body by his fitness-loving father, Lulian.

Giuliano and his brother Claudio learned impressive acrobatics and weights from their father.

Claudio started training at a younger age than Giuliano and repeated his older brother's actions when he was only 18 months old.

As children, they would both lift heavy weights to build their chest and arm muscles.

Still muscular:

The Giuliano channel also gives a glimpse into his life, including photos from his 17th birthday celebrations.

The former boxer, Lulian, was previously determined to make his sons famous and put them under a grueling training regimen that lasted two hours every morning.

The family then lived in Florence, central Italy, but at some point his plans went awry and he was forced to return to Romania.

In his heyday he responded to criticisms against him that claimed he was harming his sons' health by encouraging them to exercise and lift weights at a very young age.

He said at the time: "Critics say my sons will not grow properly, but there is no proof of that. Hard work and exercise is always good. Even a flower will grow if you add something to it. It is a natural growth."

Lulian's wife, Iliana, added: "They have a natural ability for it. Nothing is forced. That's what God has planned for them."

The family is now hoping to set up a private boxing club where Giuliano and Claudio will be able to compete and participate in the European National Championships.
