At the moment, going around the Wörthsee is like a little adventure.

In particular, the two forest paths between Bachern and the Oberndorf bathing area have been severely disturbed by clearing work.

Rain and snow did the rest.

The participants in the traditional New Year's Eve run spoke of a “mud and root course” through moss and forest.

Flows of visitors and mountain bikers who ride there without permission have made heavy demands on the sensitive biotope, so that voices have already been heard to close the circular hiking trail, which is now shown on all hiking maps. District spokesman Stefan Diebl confirms that talks are ongoing because of the exemption. But Rotarians had argued a year agothat the people in front of the footbridge had criss-crossed through the moss, so that the footbridge also had an important steering function. The cycling ban is referred to as often as it is deliberately overlooked by the athletes.

The paths through the forest in Bachern, on the other hand, have developed from well-trodden paths. In both cases, the paths through the masses of people who were doing their Wörthsee tour during the pandemic became wider and wider. The forest is directly adjacent to the Oberndorf bathing area, which the recreation area association has leased and which the district takes care of, but which has not received any complaints. “They end up with me for it,” says Marita Seefelder. The forest, however, belongs to the Count of Toerring-Jettenbach. And its forestry director Armin Elbs rejects complaints about poor road conditions: “That's the way it is in the forest”. And the fact that the forest currently looks plucked is due to the felling of numerous ash trees. The thinning had become necessary due to the so-called ash dieback, according to Elbs. The Forest Director points out thatthat both the rooted path on the bank and the path above the forest are not public. “The public path leads across the street.” The beaten path is only tolerated, entry is at your own risk, so he sees no need for action.

In contrast, the current topic in Toerring's administration is the kiosk on the bathing site.

As reported, the lease will be reassigned.

The current issue is whether the dilapidated building can be renovated.

Everything else, according to Elbs, is "difficult in terms of planning law".
