2022-01-13T16:23:22.371Z

In Moulins, the National Costume Center is devoting an exhibition to this annual parade overflowing with gold and splendor. But also very codified.

With her feathered thing, Zizi Jeanmaire can go get dressed. Same punishment for Suzy Delair and her (little) tralala. The Rio carnival has the madness of grandeur. Even if the 2022 edition has just been canceled, Delphine Pinasa, director of the National Center for Stage Costume of Moulins, wanted to devote an exhibition to these few days which are transforming the city into an organized delirium

. “Representing the neighborhoods of Rio, the samba schools arrive to parade most often by metro or bus. It is then necessary that dancers and musicians assemble on the sidewalk costumes that weigh up to 20 kg. There are harnesses on the shoulders, scratches to fix the feathers. These outfits aren't just splurge. They are also very ingenious ”

, says the co-commissioner who zigzagged between the multiple barriers linked to confinement to present the ultimate in Brazilian carnival outfits.
