The Ministry of Health announced tonight (Thursday) that a new subspecies of the coronary omicron mutation has been discovered in Israel.
This is a BA2 variant, which has more mutations than the original Leumicron, which has led scientists around the world to speculate that it may be more violent.
"This is a variant that is developing alongside the omicron and is being monitored by the Ministry of Health and other countries in the world," the ministry said.
"At this stage there is no evidence that he is behaving differently from the Omicron, we will update the public on any relevant developments.
