A teacher designs a laboratory to develop the method of vocational education in Homs

The electronic craft teacher at the martyr Ayham Rashid Dayoub Vocational Secondary School in Homs, Abdel Karim Ibrahim, was keen to employ his electronic ideas and innovations to teach his students and provide them with the necessary expertise to be distinguished in their specialization and able to engage in professional craft work competently.

Ibrahim told SANA reporter about his achievement within the school, which included creating a laboratory for teaching the maintenance of electronic panels in electrical devices. He said, “The world of electronics is constantly developing globally, and we must keep pace with it to provide students with all theoretical and practical information that enables them to be effective graduates on the ground.” A full month of work to be accomplished was funded by the Department of Vocational Education in the Homs Directorate of Education, with an amount of one million Syrian pounds.

Ibrahim explained that the laboratory equipment was available in the local market, pointing out that he participated in the Al-Basel Exhibition for Creativity and Invention, which was held in October of last year at the Faculty of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering in Damascus.

The purpose of the laboratory, according to Ibrahim, is also to integrate theoretical and practical education so that the trainee can touch the faults himself in the electronic devices and work on repairing and treating them because the current laboratories do not allow the student to have practical training in repairing faults, pointing to the importance of supporting vocational high schools to become a tributary to the market, laboratories and factories.

The director of the secondary school, Eng. Alaa Mohsen, indicated that the secondary school includes 9 vocational departments with a number of craft specializations, pointing out that after the development of vocational education curricula, the subject of laboratories was introduced, which is an important educational clarification tool.
