The Algerian Ministry of Pharmaceutical Industry announced today the official start of marketing the locally manufactured CoronaVac vaccine, after obtaining the registration decision regarding its effectiveness and safety.
“Due to the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, the marketing of the Coronavac vaccine has been started after ratifying the various tests conducted by the National Agency for Pharmaceutical Materials in coordination with Chinese Sinovac laboratories related to the effectiveness and safety of the vaccine,” the Algerian News Agency (WAJ) quoted the ministry as saying in a statement.
The statement indicated that the production capacity of the vaccine amounts to 96 million doses annually.
On the 29th of December last year, the Minister of Pharmaceutical Industry, Lotfi bin Bahamed, announced an agreement with the Chinese partner to enable the Saidal Public Complex to develop a new type of vaccine against coronavirus mutant if it appears in Algeria.
