The founder and leader of the Oath Keepers, one of the main American far-right groups, was arrested on Thursday January 13 for his role in the assault on the Capitol, the US Department of Justice announced.

Stewart Rhodes, 56, and ten other members of the group were charged the day before with "
sedition
", the ministry said in a statement.
This is the most serious charge to date against participants in the attack on the headquarters of Congress on January 6, 2021.
