Between securing employment and production opportunities, the “Utopia” volunteer team in As-Suwayda of the Local Community Development Association presents an experience of two small projects with development goals.

The two projects that the team started working on include a bakery for making Arabic bread and a workshop for sewing and detailing diapers for the elderly, which contribute to providing a number of job opportunities, and the profits of their production go back to support charitable work, as stated by the team’s charitable committee official, Nadia Nasr, during her interview with SANA reporter.

She pointed out that the bakery was launched about a year ago, and its bread products are sold within the Suwayda market, and that university students were supported through its revenues in the costs of their studies.

Nasr indicated that the idea of the workshop, which started its work about two months ago, came out of the urgent need for its production, which is often disposed of through NGOs, with the marketing of raw materials for the manufacture of diapers from their laboratories at a cost price, as they are manufactured in a way that enables them to be used more than once, in order to achieve savings on the needy. for him.

She pointed out that there is a solar dryer attached to the bakery to dry fruits on demand, stressing the importance of small projects to secure self-revenue that supports the team's work and volunteer initiatives, and the need to expand them during the coming period.

According to the two women, Abeer and Safa Naim, the workshop provided them with two monthly job opportunities to help their husbands bear the burdens of life, especially after they followed, during the last period, training courses in the field of sewing with the Department of Ecumenical Relations and Development and the Family Planning Association.

Meanwhile, the 19-year-old Bahaa Badriya said that he has been working in the bakery for 6 months, after having previously gained experience in this field, with a daily wage based on production quantities in order to secure a source of income for him and support his mother after his father's death.

The "Utopia" volunteer team of the Local Community Development Association in As-Suwayda implements many targeted initiatives in the community and includes volunteers in various specializations.
