Careless speeder stuns police with flimsy excuse and endangers children riding with him

A 68-year-old had given a police patrol on Thursday near Bad Heilbrunn several reasons to pull him out of circulation.

Bad Heilbrunn – The police officers from the Holzkirchen motorway police found several offenses in a driver of a VW Tiguan from the Weilheim district on Thursday afternoon.

On the one hand, the driver was twice too fast.

On the other hand, three children were not properly secured in his car.

Bad Heilbrunn: Seeshaupter (68) overtakes police patrol in the overtaking ban

At around 1:24 p.m., a video patrol by the motorcycle control group of the Holzkirchen motorway police noticed a dark VW Tiguan. The car with a Weilheim license plate drove on Thursday on the B472 in the direction of Bad Tölz. Shortly after Bad Heilbrunn, the driver caught up very close to the officers' video vehicle, according to a police press release. In the rear-view mirror, law enforcement officers saw an unsecured child sitting on the passenger's lap. Another child was also tumbling about unsecured in the front of the car. Shortly before Hinterstallau, the 68-year-old driver from Seeshaupt overtook the civilian emergency vehicle, although overtaking was prohibited in the area.

The officers gave chase.

In the course of the journey, they were able to document two speeding violations.

First the man drove 117 km/h at the permitted 100 km/h.

A short time later, the 68-year-old was measured at 98 km/h in a 70s range.

That was enough for the police officers and they stopped the speeder.

The press release goes on to say: "When the car was stopped, the full extent of the offenses committed became visible." In fact, there was an unbuckled 5-year-old child sitting on the passenger's lap.

A 7-year-old was doing gymnastics in the front cockpit area unsecured.

And in the seat behind the driver, there was an 8-year-old without a child seat.

The 68-year-old driver shows little insight and is not allowed to continue driving for the time being

When asked about his transgressions, the driver responded with an astounding statement.

The 68-year-old said he just wanted to go to Brauneck for skiing.

When the officials reminded him of the seriousness of the situation, the man had little insight.

In any case, the Seeshaupter had to end its journey at the Blombergbahn.

Meanwhile, the mother went and picked up the children in a car that was sufficiently safe for her.

It's getting really expensive for the driver now.

He faces a fine of around 350 euros.

The driver's license office is informed about this and he must prove that he is "suitable for driving motor vehicles".

So it could be that he won't see his driver's license again anytime soon.
