With 3764 newly detected infections in one day, the corona numbers in Hamburg reached a high on Thursday.

The seven-day incidence, i.e. the number of newly reported infections per 100,000 inhabitants within a week, jumped above the 800 mark to 801.8 for the first time, according to the health authorities.

On Wednesday the value was 723.0, a week ago it was 533.1.

Hamburg - At the same time, the number of people who have died of or in connection with the coronavirus since the beginning of the pandemic has increased by 2 to 2036.

In terms of the seven-day incidence, Hamburg is still well above the national average.

On the basis of a different calculation method, the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) gave a seven-day incidence of 576.3 for Hamburg on Thursday, and a value of 427.7 for the whole of Germany.

The 3,764 cases reported on Thursday are 1,174 more than Wednesday and 1,500 more than a week ago.

Never before have so many new cases been reported in one day.

Nationwide, too, the number of corona cases rose to a record level of 81,417.

It was only on Wednesday that the health authorities reported more than 80,000 cases within 24 hours for the first time.

As before, the health authority in Hamburg points out that a higher number of cases and thus a higher incidence must be assumed.

The reason is the rapid increase and the high number of cases, which in some cases led to a later report by the laboratories as well as to a delay in processing at the submitting offices.

According to the available data, at least 165,308 people have been infected in the Hanseatic city since February 2020.

Of these, 129,800 are considered recovered according to RKI estimates.

In the intensive care units of Hamburg's hospitals, 74 Covid 19 patients were treated on Wednesday afternoon (as of 11.15 a.m.), seven fewer more than the day before.

This comes from the register of the German Interdisciplinary Association for Intensive Care and Emergency Medicine (Divi).

45 of them had to be invasively ventilated, one less than on Wednesday.

The health authority gave the total number of Covid 19 cases in the clinics with 411 (as of Wednesday) - 14 more than the day before.

The hospitalization incidence, i.e. the number of corona patients admitted to hospitals per 100,000 inhabitants and week, rose to 5.51 on Thursday, according to the RKI - after 5.07 on Wednesday.

Nationwide, the value fell from 3.13 to 3.09.

If the limit values 3, 6 and 9 are exceeded, the federal states can impose stricter measures to combat the pandemic.

According to the RKI, 80.1 percent of Hamburgers have now been vaccinated at least once.

According to this, 77.8 percent of Hanseatic city residents have full basic protection with the second injection, which is usually necessary.

A booster vaccination was given to 41.2 percent.

When it comes to first and second vaccinations, Hamburg ranks third behind Bremen and Saarland.

When it comes to booster vaccinations, Hamburg ranks fifth from last, ahead of Brandenburg, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia.
