The areas planted with barley in the governorate of As-Suwayda for the current season exceeded 113 thousand dunums.
The assistant director of As-Suwayda Agriculture, Engineer Alaa Shehayeb, told SANA reporter that the implementation rate of the plan has reached about 54 percent to date, explaining that the lack of rain in the required form has affected the barley cultivation operations, which are nearing completion, as they are limited during the current period to some high areas.
Shehayeb pointed out that the cultivation of barley in the governorate is mostly rain-fed and is distributed in various regions of the governorate and depends on the amounts of rain falling during the season.
The As-Suwayda Agriculture Directorate had approved a plan to plant 210,000 dunums of barley for the current season.
