"Egoz" was founded in 1995 by the late Chief of Staff Amnon Lipkin-Shahak and Northern Command General Amiram Levin, who sought to bring about a revolution in the war against Hezbollah through new methods of warfare.

In its first 20 years of operation, it operated under the Golani Brigade, and in 2015, with the establishment of the Commando Brigade, it was transferred to it.

Only six months after its establishment, a force from the unit managed to eliminate two terrorists.

Subsequently, the unit's fighters participated in a series of heroic operations.

Among other things, the fighters acted against a Hezbollah security squad in the village of Enduria, in which about eight terrorists were killed.

In another operation, a wild landscape operation in 1997, Hadi Nasrallah, the son of Hezbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah, was killed.

After the withdrawal from Lebanon, the unit's fighters continued to operate in northern and Judea and Samaria, and among other things participated in the occupation of the Muqatta in Ramallah and the Second Lebanon War, when five of the unit's fighters were killed in a battle near the town of Avivim.

In the battle of Maroun a-Ras, "nut" fighters cleared Hezbollah bunkers and eliminated about 20 terrorists.

The fighters in Gaza intensively participated in the operations and eliminated many terrorists.

The most worthwhile promotions on sports equipment

In 2008, Egoz fighters in Gaza killed 18 terrorists with the help of armor and the Air Force, including the son of Mahmoud a-Zahar.

During Operation Eitan, the fighters eliminated about 50 terrorists in battles in the Shaja'iya neighborhood.

The unit's commander, Lt. Col. Yonatan Rom, was seriously wounded during the fighting in the operation.

In 2006, and after Operation Eitan, the unit received a Maj. Gen. Z.

The "Walnut" unit participated in a competition in combat professions within the commando brigade in 2020 in order to examine who is the best commando unit in the IDF. Lt. Col. Y. said that "at the stations, the fighters faced complex scenarios such as the destruction of a rocket launcher, a closed breakthrough and even planning a raid on a Hezbollah village - to the last detail."

At the seven stations, Egoz qualified for first place and defeated the other two units - Cherry and Magellan, and won the competition.
