Regional politicians urgently want to create traffic alternatives in the corridor along the A8 between Augsburg and Munich.
The reason for this is the enormous volume of traffic that will continue to increase.
"The communities along the A8 have grown above average in recent years and are suffering from the lack of S-Bahn connections," emphasized Mayor Johannes Kneidl from Sulzemoos. On the initiative of District Administrator Stefan Löwl and Mayor Kneidl, the mayors of the A8 municipalities as well as the district administrators from Dachau and Aichach-Friedberg, the constituency representatives from the Dachau and Aichach-Friedberg area, wrote to Minister of State Kerstin Schreyer in a joint letter. The background to this is the expert recommendation presented in December not to continue the project of a new S-Bahn route along the A8 from Munich to Augsburg due to the very high investment costs and the resulting non-verifiable economic profitability. However, as part of the presentation, Minister of State Schreyer offered talks on transport alternatives.
The local actors are now happy to accept this offer of talks.
The pilot project of the “Dasing-Pasing” express bus, which has already been implemented by the two districts with the support of the Ministry of Transport, shows that there is definitely potential.
