Teachers in France are on strike to protest the government's failure to implement a coherent policy in schools to tackle the coronavirus pandemic and adequately protect students and staff from infection.
"It expects many schools to be closed and large numbers of teachers to join the one-day strike," the teachers' unions said, according to Reuters news agency today. Unions representing school principals, inspectors and other workers also joined the strike.
Teachers, parents and school administrators are currently facing difficulties with the announcement of the new examination conditions on the eve of the return from the Christmas holidays and changed them twice since then, especially since injuries in French schools increased with the country recording record levels of daily injuries approaching 370,000.
And the French government had reversed its previous policy, which was to quickly close the chapters that showed injuries, and committed to a policy of keeping the chapters open as long as possible.
