The CSTO peacekeepers have begun handing over vital facilities they were guarding to the Kazakh authorities.
"According to the plan drawn up by the Collective Peacekeeping Forces Command of the Collective Security Treaty Organization and the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the delivery of vital facilities that it was guarding to the country's law enforcement agencies has begun," the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement today.
The statement indicated that the peacekeeping forces began preparing equipment and materiel to be loaded onto Russian Air Force aircraft and to return to their permanent locations.
The President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, announced yesterday that the peacekeeping forces have successfully completed their tasks and that their withdrawal from his country will begin within two days, indicating that the presence of these forces on his country's soil was within the framework of the law and with the aim of helping them confront a serious terrorist threat.
