New rails and points: The Munich transport company announces the next major construction site.
There has been no subway between Goetheplatz and Implerstrasse for months.
Munich – The next mega construction site in Munich: From Monday, March 14th, until probably Sunday, June 19th, the Munich transport company (MVG) will be renewing switches, crossings and rails of the subway in the Implerstrasse area.
Commuters will have to be patient, as the U3 and U6 lines between Goetheplatz and Implerstrasse will be replaced by buses.
The buses not only run on the closed section of the route, but are also intended to temporarily create new direct connections for affected passengers, according to the transport company.
Major construction site: U6 only goes to Implerstrasse, U3 only to Goetheplatz
Since it is not possible for operational reasons to run both underground lines on the southern line branches to Implerstrasse, the U3 only serves the section between Fürstenried West and Brudermühlstrasse during the work.
The U6 commutes from Klinikum Großhadern to Implerstraße.
To the north, the U6 runs continuously between Garching Research Center and Goetheplatz.
Coming from Moosach, the U3 runs Monday to Friday from around 6 a.m. to 8.30 p.m. and Saturday between 10 a.m. and 7.30 p.m. to Sendlinger Tor – at other times the U3 also runs to Goetheplatz.
Replacement buses drive instead of the subway: Line 63 gets booster vehicles
The replacement bus for the U3 connects the underground stations at Brudermühlstrasse, Implerstrasse, Poccistrasse and Goetheplatz with the main train station.
The SEV line U6 runs as a ring line from Implerstrasse via Poccistrasse to Goetheplatz and back.
In addition, line X30 will be extended from the “Am Harras” stop via Schwanthalerhöhe, Trappentreustraße and Donnersbergerbrücke to Rotkreuzplatz.
Amplified buses are occasionally used on line 63 between Aidenbachstraße and Donnersbergerbrücke.
