Because he was not allowed to go to the citizens' office without an appointment, a man in Witten stabbed a security guard. He was arrested.

Bochum - stab attack in North Rhine-Westphalia: On Wednesday (January 12th) a security officer (55) from the city of Witten was seriously injured by a man (34). The suspect had not previously been allowed into the citizens' office in the town hall because he did not have an appointment, as the Bochum police announced.

At around 11:10 a.m., the two men ran into each other.

Accordingly, the 34-year-old wanted to be allowed into the town hall without an appointment, but was sent away, according to the first investigations.

"A short time later," he returned and "stabbed the security guard several times with a sharp object," the police said.

Accordingly, the weapon was probably a knife.

The perpetrator fled, but only "a few minutes later" he was arrested in Luther Park without any resistance.

The victim was seriously injured in both legs and face, and in the meantime was even in mortal danger.

Now his "state of health is stable."

Witten: The weapon cannot be found - suspect in custody

The Bochum police have set up a homicide squad.

The suspect no longer had the weapon with him when he was arrested, and it has not yet been found.

Now the 34-year-old is in custody.
