Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov announced that the recent talks with the United States and NATO on security guarantees were not successful.
In a statement today, Peskov said: "During the talks between Russia on the one hand and the United States and NATO on the other hand, differences were recorded, and this is a bad thing," noting that Moscow is waiting for written answers from the West about the outcome of those talks in the coming days.
Peskov added, "Russia has never lacked the political will to continue talks with the United States, but NATO cannot dictate to Russia how and where to move its military forces on its territory," stressing at the same time his country's desire to continue talks provided that they return a tangible result.
During the past few days, intensive talks took place in Geneva and Brussels between Russia and America on the one hand and Russia and NATO on the other hand, on the file of security guarantees demanded by Moscow.
In a related context, Peskov stressed that imposing US sanctions against President Vladimir Putin would be an act that transcends all limits, and said that imposing "sanctions on a head of state would be a measure that went beyond borders and would be tantamount to severing relations between the two countries."
