President Tokayev promises to bring the clan of former President Nursultan Nazarbayev, 81, to heel.
The latter controls most of the economy of Kazakhstan, a country rich in hydrocarbons and minerals.
It is to maintain control over the huge Kazakh cake that part of this clan tried to sow chaos in the country last week to overthrow Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
This is certainly a faithful companion that Nazarbayev placed the head of the country in 2019. But he still has the mistake, in this autocratic regime, of not being a member of the family.
Tuesday, the one who now presides over the destinies of the former Soviet Republic, after having seized the reins of the Security Council last week which had been the heart of power since 2019, split into a speech accusing Elbassy ( "head of the nation") of being responsible for the appearance in the country of a
"caste of very profitable companies, of very rich people"
