Russia threatens US: "We will not rule out sending troops to Cuba and Venezuela" | Israel Today

Sergei Rybkov, Moscow's envoy to the European Cooperation Organization, said he was not optimistic about the outcome of negotiations with the West over tensions in Ukraine.

Russia combines diplomacy and threats: Sergei Rybkov, Moscow's envoy for talks with the United States in Geneva, said he did not rule out sending his Russian military force to Venezuela and Cuba if diplomatic contacts between the two countries failed.

In a conversation with a Russian television channel, Rybkov said that talks between NATO and Russia representatives in Vienna had failed to close the gaps in positions between the two countries regarding military tensions and the deployment of Russian military forces on Ukraine's eastern border. The diplomatic path "added that" this is the real time of trying to reach an agreement in order to prevent a catastrophe. "

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko threatened yesterday that his country would act militarily to prevent threats to its territory if diplomatic means failed.

Grushko made the remarks to the Russian news agency Interfax, in the shadow of talks held today between representatives of NATO member states and representatives of the Kremlin in Brussels, the capital of Belgium.

"We will use military means to neutralize any threat to us, if the political and diplomatic means do not prove themselves," the deputy foreign minister said during an interview on the sidelines of talks in Brussels.

The Russian news agency RIA reported that Grushko had detailed non-military measures by which Russia could use it in the event that the talks did not yield results.

The second round of three talks between Russia and representatives of the West and the United States over tensions on the eastern Ukrainian border began today without much optimism on either side.

Russia has made great demands on the United States, including preventing Ukraine from entering the NATO alliance and halting the Alliance's progress to the east.

Attempts to bridge the gaps between the parties are taking place after the Russian army conducted live-fire drills this week with about 100,000 soldiers stationed near the border with neighboring Ukraine.

The soldiers stationed along the border are ready to invade as soon as the order is given.
