The Student Union opened today (Thursday) in protest against the academic institutions that require students to take frontal exams while gathering in closed buildings and the danger of mass infection in Corona.

"Many institutions have already realized that student health is more important than anything else, and have therefore offered alternatives and alternatives to the test outline," the association's Facebook post read.

"And yet, unfortunately, there are a number of institutions that, even in the current state of morbidity, require students to take frontal exams and place an impossible choice on the male and female students - either your health or your grades."

One of the institutions that conducts examinations in the controversial outline is the Tel Aviv-Yafo Academic College.

There, despite inquiries from students from the various schools expressing concern about infection, the administration chose to conduct tests as a matter of routine.

"Referrals to staff do not help, but it is understandable against the background that in the institution there is no enforcement at all of wearing masks, in fact we are completely promiscuous," he told Walla!

"We are committed to getting to exams where we are likely to be sick, to getting infected, to taking risks - and then to being punished for not being able to take exams during the current semester. .

"We have increased enforcement inside the buildings."

According to the student, he and his friends are forced to take the exams even though verified patients were found in the classrooms at the end of the semester, and even though there is a real fear of patients arriving on campus - maliciously or out of ignorance.

"The college's solution for patients or isolates who will not be able to take the exams is to take the exam on Monday, but if they have to improve their grades (on Tuesday, GP) - they have no idea when they will be able to do so.

"Usually the date is close to the second date, but according to past experience, it can be set for the end of the next semester or even far from it."

In a letter sent yesterday by the principal of the college to students, she asked to "refine and emphasize" that "sick students are asked to show the required responsibility and not to come to campus, even if it involves indiscretion on Sunday or Monday." ". She added that "the main goal we face during the exam period is to reduce the number of cases of infections to protect the health of Clal on campus, while maintaining the academic value of the students who put a lot of effort into the past semester. Exams are maintained "The examinees and wearing masks. We also increased enforcement inside the buildings during the exam days."

However, according to college students in recent exams held at the institution there has been no enforcement at all.

Furthermore, some of the examiners walked around the classrooms without a mask or when it did not cover their noses as required.

"Whoever came to check the distance between the students was himself without a mask. Apparently they cared more about copying than sticking," a student said.

"Despite the concern, there are no restrictions."

The association has pointed the finger of blame at Ariel University, the Open University and ten academic colleges across the country. Tamar (pseudonym), an undergraduate student at Jezreel Valley College, said that at the beginning of the month the students were instructed to move to zoom because of the illness, after she said some students became infected with the virus and infected others. However, on January 10, the college issued a notice stating that all tests would be taken at the college.

According to her, some of her friends decided that they would come to the tests even if they experienced symptoms of illness. "When we approached them they just answered everyone the same thoughtless answer, they just made a copy of the paste," she said. "Even the course tests that were excellent in the pre-exam program as home tests or online tests - have become frontal tests."

In this college, too, students have to deal with wondering about the special exam date, the date of which is unknown. "Issue instructions that if you are experiencing symptoms or you are ill - get straight to the second date," Tamar added. "Of course the question arose - what if we need more time? So they said there would be an unusual time in presenting documents and examining a committee. And if that was not enough - assume the lecturers could not answer our test questions but take a break in the middle of the test, which greatly interferes with concentration."

"I have a lot of friends with symptoms who are afraid to go get tested, it's really scary," shared Shira, a social work student at one of the colleges. "The feelings are very bad, we feel abandoned, that we are in a bad movie. Our association fights day and night and for the students, and the college administration is just opaque and stubborn, head against the wall. It's human life, our health. Lots of students go sick because they do not want to make deadlines. B. To be honest - I can understand them. No student wants to get stuck with the B and C dates that will be extended to him by the end of the year. "He will have to do second and third dates in this format," she added.

"We call on the heads of the academic institutions from here as well, wake up! Do not endanger the students and their families," the association's post read.

"We will not compromise on the health of the male and female students in Israel and we will continue to fight against the severance of the heads of the institutions. The wave of academic omicron must be prevented."

Association chairman Elhanan Fleheimer said that the protest on the issue has been going on more than in the last two weeks.

The exam period began this week, when the institutions mentioned in the post made a decision to conduct most of the tests in a frontal manner while completely ignoring the disease state and despite the many conversations we had with them.

The frontal outline leads the male and female students to choose - either your health or your grades. "
