The Minister of Local Administration and Environment, Eng. Hussein Makhlouf, discussed with Palestinian Minister of Agriculture Riyad Atari and his accompanying delegation ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries and exchange experiences in the field of preserving environmental resources and reducing land degradation and environmental pollution.
Minister Makhlouf reviewed the projects implemented in Syria that the Palestinian side can benefit from, such as a project to strengthen the capacity of local communities to face climate changes and water shortages in Eastern Ghouta through desalination, modern irrigation and support livestock breeders, noting that the projects implemented also focus on addressing the environmental impacts that left by the terrorist war on Syria.
Eng. Makhlouf indicated that there is an ambitious plan in the ministry to combat the effects of drought and other projects related to supporting the production of fodder alternatives by disseminating the experience of cultivar barley in all regions and projects for the production of organic fertilizers and other projects that can be shared with the Palestinian side to exchange experiences.
The Palestinian Minister of Agriculture, in turn, stated that the visit to Syria is very important to see the projects implemented in it and apply them in our country to preserve the environment and protect it from deterioration resulting from the practices of the Israeli occupation.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Minister of Local Administration for Environmental Affairs, Moataz Douji, and the President of the Arab Center for Dry Lands “ACSAD” Dr. Nasr El-Din El-Obeid.
