With the rapid advancement of technology, work that used to require a lot of manpower and material resources can gradually be handled by virtual platforms or programs.

Coding is a method of communicating with a computer and an important part of sending instructions to it.

Coding may seem esoteric, but in fact, the process of learning to code can exercise logical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Some organizations have introduced virtual robot learning platforms to Hong Kong, hoping that the public can easily learn coding and connect with the world's technology.

CoderZ, a virtual robot learning platform, was introduced to Hong Kong by Uncle Potato Chip Co-Creation Co., Ltd. CoderZ is an education technology company from Israel and one of the winners of the 2020 "Education Technology Enterprise Global Expansion Plan".

Over the past six months, Uncle Potato Chip Co-Creation Co., Ltd. has recognized the importance of coding and introduced CoderZ to primary and secondary schools in Hong Kong, allowing students to learn coding, robotics and STEM through this virtual platform.

More than 700 students have participated in the CoderZ Hong Kong League in the past two months to learn autonomous coding from games.

Coding for future market trends

Qiu Kunshi, chief integration and transformation director of SEEK Asia Pacific, said that although the epidemic has affected all walks of life, the salaries of technology talents have risen instead of falling, with an average increase of 3.7%.

The industries most in need of coding talents are logistics and transportation, with a combined growth rate of 117%.

At present, coding is also popular in the online banking and insurance industry, and he believes that coding will become a basic skill for everyone in the future.

Yan Yaohui, co-founder and co-CEO of Baotai Life, also pointed out that traditional industries such as logistics and insurance used to require more manpower, and coding automation can help companies reduce costs. How many manpower do I need?" Yan Yaohui said that Hong Kong's financial industry is mature, but it is unable to meet the market demand for technological talents, and it is difficult to hire suitable talents. It is hoped that Hong Kong can cultivate more talents in this field.

Learn to program without age limit

Cheng Zhongxun, director of Uncle Potato Chip Co-creation Club, pointed out that all walks of life are eager for coding talents. The introduction of the Israeli CoderZ coding learning platform is an opportunity for Hong Kong students to connect with international standards. Coding is the common language of the world. Co-creation Club hopes that Hong Kong In addition to Chinese, English, and mathematics, schools need to incorporate coding into their regular curriculum. "I used to hear coding, but it was really scary." I hope to break up misunderstandings through coding competitions between primary school students and CEOs.

Exercise logical thinking and problem-solving skills

Ren Jingxin, CEO of Hong Kong Cyberport Management Co., Ltd., pointed out that in addition to writing programs, learning to code can also exercise logical thinking and problem-solving skills.

He said that children learning to code can "analyze complex things, see the interrelationships, and solve problems step by step".

Ren Jingxin believes that through gamified competitions, the public's stereotype of coding can be changed, and he hopes that students will spend time to understand the coding world.

Jian Peiqin, a partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers, pointed out that learning coding is the same as learning language, and there is no age limit, and the earlier you learn, the better.

He took the use of iPads by children as an example, "Children may not have a clear understanding of the principle behind it, but they see the process of your use, such as what key you press, and a corresponding program will pop up, and they can conceptually grasp what coding is."

Jian Peiqin encourages parents to train their children to learn coding from an early age, like music, and even prenatal education before birth.

He pointed out that the current coding is gradually simplified, and the operation is like stacking building blocks, which is easier than ever to start.

Uncle Potato Chips Co-creation Club will hold a "Code for Fun" activity on January 22, the highlight of which will be "Primary School CEO Picking Machines". The director of Uncle Potato Chips Co-creation Club will lead 5 well-known executives in the city. The President challenges the winning students in the Novice category of the CoderZ competition.

The competition method is that each group of two students will play against two CEOs. The competition is divided into two rounds, and each round will perform the same task. The competition environment simulates real logistics scenarios, such as mechanically moving goods, crossing shelves, and crossing some goods, etc. , the contestants need to use the shortest route and time to complete the task to win.

In addition to primary school students fighting the CEO, the event also arranges a one-hour coding workshop for students, teachers and parents to explain coding concepts in simple terms. The event is free of charge and there is no limit on the number of people. Anyone interested in coding is welcome to participate.

Guan Jialang and Huang Yushi, who are in primary school, are contestants of "Primary School CEO Picking Machines". Guan Jialang became interested in coding as early as the second year of primary school. At that time, they "listened to others around" and studied online and tablet computers. Coding is not officially taught until the fourth grade.

He believes that learning to code not only did not affect his grades in other subjects, but helped him understand mathematical concepts.

Huang Yushi does not want the outside world to think that girls are inferior to men in learning coding, "men and women are equal, and there is no difference in logical ability between women and men."

Huang Yushi also pointed out that the current school computer class is boring, and she only stops at teaching how to use EXCEL, but she wants to learn how to create tools like EXCEL by herself, so she hopes to incorporate coding into the regular curriculum of the school in the future.
