Once again, yesterday evening, people took to the streets to protest against the Corona measures.
Last week there were a good 3,000 participants, yesterday there were around 1,000 demonstrators.
Munich - "Peace!" Suddenly shouts a man in Kaufingerstrasse.
And gets the answer “Freedom!” From other people who seem to be shopping through town.
However, they are not tourists on a shopping tour, but "walkers" who demonstrated again yesterday against Corona measures.
The evening was calm, especially compared to the previous Wednesday evenings. There were only small groups on the way, no large trains through the city, a spokesman for the police confirmed. In total there were about 1000 people who were out and about in the city. A registered corona demo took place on Theresienwiese, around 100 participants wore masks and kept their distances. A counter-demonstration on Odeonsplatz, in which around 200 people took part, also went quietly.
The police were on duty with 1,000 officers
The police were on standby with 1,000 emergency services across the entire city.
It got a little uncomfortable at around 8 p.m. on Kaufingerstrasse: Hundreds of people kept walking up and down the pedestrian zone, the police repeatedly pointed out the ban on gatherings with loudspeakers.
Eventually the officials formed chains to stop the crowd and broke up the gathering.
Loudspeaker announcements announced that the police would record the personal details.
At the moment, the general decree still applies, which prohibits meetings in the urban area that are connected to the Corona demos.
With the "walks" the protesters want to trick the officials.
Or with other strategies: A small crowd gathered at Marienplatz and prayed in front of the Marian column.
Less and less popularity?
Last Wednesday around 3,000 people went for “walks” unannounced, and there were several incidents.
That it was comparatively quiet yesterday could be due to the organizer of the alliance “Munich stands up”.
Yesterday he posted a video message to the Telegram group in which he announced that he would not demonstrate himself because the city had again moved its meeting on Geschwister-Scholl-Platz to Theresienwiese.
One could also stay at home and “gather strength”, said Melchior I. This call was probably answered by some of the Corona demonstrators.
