A myth which, a century later, remains alive in the collective unconscious, despite a reality which has largely damaged it.
It largely explains why the subject of faculty resignations remains taboo.
However, the trend is clearly upward.

While they represented 0.05% of the teaching troops in 2008-2009, these resignations weigh up to 0.32% in 2021 (i.e. 2,286 teachers out of a total of 869,000).
They are much more important in primary school.
