The Acting Senior Inspector Tse Tsz-chung of the First Section of the Bad Business Practice Investigation of the Copyright and Trademark Investigation Division of Customs said that a member of the public complained to Customs earlier that an education centre in Cheong Yu Building, Castle Peak Road, Yuen Long was suspected of violating the Trade Descriptions Ordinance.

Customs conducted an investigation and found that the education center's website claimed that the children's training courses it offered were accredited by a foreign university. The education center violated the Trade Description Regulations.

Customs took a snake-free operation today and dispatched officers to disguise customers to purchase the course. During the operation, a 42-year-old male director of an education center was arrested and reported as a course coordinator.

Customs also seized publicity materials and teaching materials with false descriptions of relevant courses from the education centres.

Xie Zicong said that according to the company's registration records, the education center started operation in 2015. The relevant children's training courses are adventure courses, including rock climbing, wire rope flying, and air walking. The target is children aged 2 to 12. The fee is 10 lessons. 2,400 yuan, and its website claims that relevant courses have been accredited since 2019.

Xie Zicong reminded that when purchasing courses, parents should pay special attention to the accreditation of merchant courses. If there is any doubt, they should take the initiative to inquire about the relevant educational institutions before enrolling. If there is anything suspicious, report it to the customs as soon as possible.
