Accused of racism, Islamophobia or transphobia, “cancelled” professors create their own university in Texas

“We cannot expect reputable universities to improve themselves. So we're going to make our own."

This is how Pano Kanelos, doctor of literature and political philosophy and former president of St. John's College in Annapolis, announced on November 8 the creation of the University of Austin (UATX). Which was thought of as a remedy for the contemporary ills of American education: the “cancel culture”, censorship and the politicization of courses. A joke? The establishment has already collected ten million dollars in private endowments, received more than a thousand applications from teachers, and the first courses will begin this year. Among the donors is Elon Musk.
