This is the third attempt to launch since the beginning of the year • On Wednesday, the US State Department announced punishments against six North Korean citizens, a company and a Russian citizen allegedly involved in the military plan of the country's ruler Kim Jong Un

Another launch has been identified in North Korea off the east coast, the South Korean military confirmed today (Friday).

However, there is no detail as to which means was used, nor the distance the missile traveled.

The incident comes after sanctions imposed by the US administration on key figures involved in the ballistic plan of state ruler Kim Jong Un on Wednesday.

This is the third launch attempt in a number since the beginning of the year, the last of which was on Tuesday, in a launch that was later claimed to be a "missile on my voice."

The Foreign Ministry in Pyongyang claimed a few hours before the new launch that the US was trying to "escalate the situation".

On Wednesday, the US Treasury Department announced that it had decided to impose sanctions on six North Korean citizens, as well as on a Russian company and citizen allegedly involved in the military program, in light of the recent launches of ballistic missiles in the Korean Peninsula.

The U.S. Secretary of State detailed in a statement issued Thursday that the sanctions were intended to harm the seven people, who the U.S. says are linked to "the distribution of weapons of mass destruction and systems for the delivery of weapons of mass destruction."
