Because of the rapidly spreading omicron variant of the corona virus, the Fürth Clinic has launched a special appeal.
Helpers are wanted.
Fürth – The fourth Corona* wave peaked in Germany at the end of November and beginning of December.
The seven-day incidence in Fürth was over 600 at the time. Stricter corona rules then caused the value to drop again by the turn of the year.
On January 1, it was 138.8, and the number of Covid patients decreased continuously.
There are currently eight in the normal Corona ward at the Fürth Clinic.
Three patients are still being treated in the intensive care unit.
All are infected with the Delta variant.

Corona situation in Fürth: Omicron variant will soon dominate
In addition, the incidence value has been rising again since the beginning of January. On Wednesday it was 298.7 in Fürth* and 261.2 in the district. When asked by
nordbayern.de
, district office spokesman Christian Ell reported
positive cases in the “low double-digit range” in a retirement home in Fürth. At the moment, however, one is primarily keeping an eye on the “diffuse infection process”.
It is not yet possible to estimate the extent to which Omikron will burden hospitals, says Dr.
Manfred Wagner from the Fürth Clinic.
Here the reports from different countries contradict each other.
There are currently no major staff gaps, explains Carmen Brückner from the Fürth Clinic at
nordbayern.de
.
However, one is preparing for an emergency in which many employees are ill or have to be quarantined.
In any case, the shortage of nursing staff is causing problems for the hospitals.
The added stress during the pandemic has caused many workers to quit their jobs.
Fürther Klinikum is looking for assistants with a call
In order to be prepared for a possible fifth wave and to forestall bottlenecks, the Fürth Clinic has launched a special appeal.
With a newspaper advertisement in the
Fürther Nachrichten
and posts on social networks, it is looking for helping hands.
With success: 23 interested parties have already been trained so far, Brückner reports on
nordbayern.de
.
The induction phase takes half a day and is tailored to the previous knowledge of the applicant.
For example, medical students learn how to put on protective clothing and administer medication.
Other helpers learn how to operate patient beds or explain the telephone system to patients.
In the medium term, the nursing staff should be relieved.
The new assistants come from a wide variety of areas.
Among them are a former midwife and a retired gynecologist.
Some helpers want to work on a voluntary basis, others have signed a contract with the hospital.
